How To Apply For a Scholarship

To be eligible to apply for a Monroe Foundation Scholarship, applicants must be enrolled full‑time. For additional details regarding the application link, process, and eligibility requirements, please contact our Executive Director, Ann Marie Ferguson.

1. Application Access

Applicants must submit their scholarship application through the official Monroe Foundation application portal – application link will be provided to the student once the required interview is conducted.

2. Required Interview

As part of the application process, all prospective candidates must complete a brief interview with a Foundation representative. Applicants are required to schedule this interview prior to initiating an application.

3. Required Application Materials

A complete application must include the following documents:

3.1 Personal Essay

Applicants must submit a personal essay that includes:

•     An introduction of the applicant

•     The applicant’s chosen field of study

•     The reasons behind their academic and career goals

•     A statement explaining their motivation for seeking the scholarship, including financial need

3.2 Letter of Recommendation

Applicants must provide one (1) letter of recommendation from a qualified academic or professional reference who can speak to the applicant’s character, academic potential, and readiness for continued study.

•     The letter must be addressed to The Monroe Foundation.

•     General or non-specific recommendation letters will not be accepted.

3.3 Academic Transcript

Applicants must submit their most recent academic transcript demonstrating current academic performance.

•     A minimum semester/term GPA of 3.0 is required for scholarship consideration.

•     Applicants must be enrolled in the term which you are seeking funding. We do not award scholarships retroactively.

4. Additional Required Documentation

To complete the final stage of the review process, applicants must email their Bursar’s Receipt or Student Account Statement. This documentation is required to verify enrollment and financial standing.  To finalize our decision, we must determine that you have a demonstrated financial need and an unmet funding gap.

5. Review and Notification Process

Once all required materials have been received—including the interview and financial documentation—the Monroe Foundation will conduct a comprehensive review of the application. Applicants will be notified of the Foundation’s decision upon completion of the review.  Scholarships are not guaranteed until an official award letter is issued.

Screenshots, including JPEG or PNG files, are not accepted as official documentation. All required documents must be submitted in PDF format.
